Plus literature readings from local published authors including Walsall's critically acclaimed
Paul McDonald and Dudley's very own
Greg Stokes - Kate's Hill Press Publishing.
Paul McDonald:
Born in Walsall in 1961, Paul is the author of two of the funniest books you'll ever read. Surving Sting and Kiss Me Softly, Amy Turtle (both published by Tindal Press, Birmingham) feature the fictional character of Dave McVane and his escapades of life in Walsall during the late 70s and into the 80s - they are a 'must read.' Surviving Sting... 'Paul McDonald has written one of the best kind of books - one where it's possible to laugh and think at the same time...its funny, violent and completely endearing.' Rachel Taylor FICTION NET www.fiction-net.com Kiss Me Softly, Amy Turtle... 'Highly recommended. This is the most fun I've had all year - fast paced, witty, and surprisingly moving. Paul Mc Donald has done the impossible - he's made Walsall funny.' Paul Thompson...'Funny, moreish, and puts Walsall on the map in the way that Dante's Inferno did with hell.' Mill Millington.

This is an 'Alternative' Black Country night out - spotlighting the wealth of original contemporary creative output in the Arts genres of music, poetry and literature in the area. It's going to be passionate, in your face - and a whole lot of fun. We want to raise the profile of these genres. We feel that recognition to 'contemporary original works' is something that has been (and is) undervalued and drastically overlooked in our area. The areas rich historical / industrial heritage is well and truly chronicled - we want to profile the fact that we also have a rich, diverse contemporary arts culture as well. This event will be performance arts - by the people - for the people. Please note: 'Prawn sandwiches will not be available...ar kid.'
